The Slaughtering

Content Warning: This one is just weird. I don’t want to ruin anything, but I promise this one is rated ‘G.’ Enjoy.

Jason stepped back and threw up all over the yard. He dropped the knife as his eyes blurred with tears, and he sat down on a stump which lay next to a rusting charcoal grill. He looked down at his hands and saw they were sticky and red. He had done it. He had finally done it, after years of torture and unknowing. He laughed a little bit, and wiped the tears from his nose and cheeks. He glanced at the glass pitcher which he had sloppily filled with the warm crimson liquid, and grinned. He sprinted in side and grabbed a glass, nearly tripping over his dog. He ran back outside and filled the glass to the brim, spilling some on his hands in the process. He raised the glass to his lips and nearly choked. It was bitter, and tasted unfamiliar. He set the glass down and ran to the kitchen to grab some sugar. He mixed several cups into the pitcher and tried it again. Strangely, it tasted delightful. Jason smiled and spent the rest of the afternoon drinking the rest of the pitcher, savoring every last drop.

As the full moon bounced up from the horizon, Jason yawned and stretched. For the first time in a long time he felt… happy. He was no longer scared, and felt like he could face life with fresh confidence. “Why have I always been afraid of Kool-aid?” thought Jason as he picked up the “Cherry” flavoring packet from the ground where he had dropped it after he had cut it open. “It’s actually quite delicious.” Jason went inside, and fell asleep, content for the first time in his life.
